Program Description

The Maternal and Newborn Health Program is one of the core programs of LDS Health Care, dedicated to protecting the lives and improving the health of mothers and newborn babies. The program promotes quality healthcare throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period to ensure safe deliveries and healthy beginnings for every child.

LDS Health Care supports access to antenatal care, skilled birth attendance, emergency obstetric referrals, postnatal care, essential newborn care, maternal nutrition, breastfeeding support, immunization, and health education. The program also focuses on the early detection and management of pregnancy-related complications, helping to reduce preventable maternal and newborn illnesses and deaths.

Through partnerships with healthcare providers, governments, and local communities, LDS Health Care strengthens maternal and newborn health services by training healthcare workers, supporting health facilities with essential equipment and supplies, and conducting community outreach to increase awareness of safe motherhood and newborn care.
